Welcome to our Weekend Cook and Tell where each Wednesday we turn the pages of the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
Yes, it's true. Summer is coming to an end all too quickly. For some, this is a happy celebration possibly because they are ready to bid adieu to the summer heat, (or their children) and for others it comes all too soon. Either way, perhaps it's time to squeeze in a few last vacations before it's too late.
When you vacation, how do you plan your meals? David Hagedorn, of The Washington Post, wrote on how he and his family shop and cook for his family's annual trip to the lake house. It involves a mixture of bringing ingredients from their varied cities, shopping locally, and hoping TSA doesn't abscond with their filled carry-ons.
Do you bring food with you on trips for special or convenient meals? (My father brings peanut butter pickle sandwiches every time he goes to Kauai. Apparently, they travel and age well.) What are your favorite vacation meals? Quick and easy? Or time intensive with a dash of memory making in the process?
Share your favorite vacation dishes on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title) and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. You can now also pin your creation on your Pinterest board as well. Please use the hashtag, #cookandtell, and tag us, @Serious Eats in your pin's text.
We'll post a round-up of your holiday ideas, recipes, and experiences the following Wednesday, August 29nd.
