Apparently, it's proving to be a perfect and productive tomato season. It turns out that the "oppressive heat that has been making subway riders miserable is actually beneficial if you're a tomato. They like the hot weather, growing faster and sweeter because of it." Melissa Clark, of The New York Times, suggests several ways to enjoy the tomato surplus, from fancy to simple.
Tomatoes are so versatile, you may end up with a weekend full of tomato-based eats. Perhaps start with simple perfect heirloom on its own, and progress to a Tomato Cobbler. You could finish with a simple bowl of salsa, since we know some of you (paging diane2001V) could eat salsa by the jar.
