Weekend Cook and Tell: Faux Fast Food

Welcome to our Weekend Cook and Tell where each Wednesday we turn the pages of the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.

A number of stories have been mentioned these past weeks regarding different fast food chains and controversial issues. Alexandra Petri, of The Washington Post, wrote a fine piece calling us all to simply, judge the sandwich by the sandwich.

We're doing just that, here at Serious Eats. You may have seen Kenji's post on how to make a Chick-Fil-A sandwich at home or his combination of two fan favorites, Shake Shack burgers and Animal Style from In-N-Out. What fast food items do you love so much that you decided to create your own home version?

Put your kitchen apron and be thankful you don't have to wear a fast food uniform. Share your fast food copycats on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title) and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. You can now also pin your creation on your Pinterest board as well. Please use the hashtag, #cookandtell, and tag us, @Serious Eats in your pin's text.

We'll post a round-up of your faux food ideas, recipes, and experiences the following Wednesday, August 8th.
