My elderly neighbor has a pear tree in her backyard. She asked yesterday if we could help her and pick all of the remaining pears to save them from falling on her lawn. What I didn't realize was that she was going to give them to us. 3 giant bucketfuls.

I grew up with pears - but I always ate them plain. I'm not sure I can consume that many before they go bad; so, I may give some away.

Ideas? Canning is obviously a possibility. But I thought I'd start out with some fun goodies first.
