Weekend Cook and Tell: Chips and Dips

Welcome to our Weekend Cook and Tell where each Wednesday we leaf through the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.

With the Super Bowl coming up this weekend, menu planning is going to get very snack heavy, graze-worthy, and big on the chips and dip. Ivy Manning over at The Oregonian is forgoing the bagged and packaged in favor homemade with a tasty selection of recipes including classics like Hot Seven Layer Dip and Creamy Fresh Spinach Dip served with Easy Pita Chips. A spread like that beats the pants off of any store bought sour cream and onion dip if you ask us.

For this week's challenge we're asking you to step up your snack game and share your favorite chips and dips with us. We're looking for the creamiest crab artichoke dip, the cheesiest queso, and the handsomest hummus. And for optimal scoopage we're in the market for still warm from the fryer potato chips, crispy tortillas, and hand cut crackers.
