Next month, my husband and I are taking a 3 day trip to New Orleans. My husband hasn't been to New Orleans since he did emergency relief after Katrina and Rita as an AmeriCorps member, and I've never been to New Orleans. Consequently, our knowledge base is pretty weak.
While we aren't on a strict budget, we aren't really interested in making reservations or at eating places with white tablecloths. We tend to gravitate toward the bar food/dive joint experiences. We're serious beer drinkers (quality more so than quantity) and we love a decent selection to go with a meal or snacks. Although we will have our car with us, we'd prefer places in walking or nearby travel distance (staying at the Hotel Provincial on Chartres Street).
Obviously, a "Google" search for places to eat in New Orleans returns a bizarre and lengthy set of recommendations (needle-in-a-haystack style). So I would really benefit from some insights from this community. We've been looking forward to this trip for months and would love to make the most of it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
