Cold bone marrow?

At a restaurant earlier this week I ordered the bone marrow toast special, and I received cold bone marrow spread on toast like butter. Has anyone else served or eaten bone marrow like this? Up until this point I've only been served it hot, and that's always how I serve it at how as well.

Is this just me? Or is cold marrow a thing?
