Kosher Pizza - Why does it suck?
*Politically Incorrect Alert - no disrespect intended!*
I've often wondered why, when the basic ingredients of pizza are all easily found kosher (almost all mozzarella is made without animal rennet), I have never tasted good, or even edible, kosher pizza. There's good kosher chinese, why not pizza? My primary conclusion is that, while your basic New York Jew is an expert on Chinese food (so many Christmas Eve dinners...) the people who make kosher pizza do not respect the pizza craft.
We've recently learned that there is a kosher pizzeria with a wood-fired oven that aspires to pizza goodness in Crown Heights, Brooklyn (Basil - www.basilny.com) - have any of you been there yet?
