Is the physical cookbook here to stay?
With the Holidays fast approaching, cookbooks will be on many gifting lists.
During a lecture last night at the 92Y in Manhattan pairing Chris Kimball and Jacques Pepin, Kimball pointed out that there is something special about the physical cookbook, one that you pick up and turn the pages with your fingers. He felt it was here to stay. Well, we have all heard about e-books and difficulties bookstores are having these days. I also feel the physical cookbook (or newspaper for that matter) is more personal and does have a special place.
Both were pitching newly published cookbooks which they signed after the program. But what about that feeling of pulling a favorite cookbook off the shelf. Is that becoming a thing of the past?
