What am I doing wrong?
I'm an alright cook most of the time. I've made instant mashed potatoes a lot. In fact, my Dad's Mother prefers them over regular potatoes for some reason.
Anyhoo, I thought I'd first mention I do have a nice set of non-stick pots and pans for like $150. The reviews online say no matter what you do to them stuff will always wipe clean. It's true. I can leave soup for a day and come back and it comes right off.. hardly any force needed to clean.
So, the last two times I went to make instant mashed potatoes they got ruined! I followed the directions on the box exactly. One time was Hungry Jack and tonight was the one sold in Aldi supermarkets.
The same thing happened both times and I'll explain.
Using the large pot.. last time I didn't make as much, tonight I was making a lot.
Put in what it called for water, butter, salt. Bring to boil. Take off stove and add in cold milk and potato flakes. Stir gently.
Both times the bottom of the potatoes got burned. The first time it happened I was stirring and the burnt black stuff was all in my potatoes. Ruined.
This time I noticed it and stopped stirring, and just stirred the top portion. I quickly got the potatoes out and into a large mixing bowl. This way I was able to save most of them.. hardly any burnt stuff got in my potatoes.
Any ideas what could be going wrong? I noticed this time instead of water I used milk instead.. for extra creamyness.. I don't remember last time. Think that could be it?
