This might seem like an odd question, but there are a lot of you 'Eaters who have some talent with this business and I just don't.
With photograzing and these new weekly calls to send in photos of what we're making including certain ingredients I'm really itching to participate but I'm not really very good with taking pictures, let alone making food look pretty.
What are your tricks for taking pictures of food? Is herb flotsam really needed (like the piece of parsley on the side of your plate in fancy schmancy restaurants)? What is the optimal surface for creating a good background? What am I missing?
