I am trying to pin down a menu for my bridal shower and I thought I would ask the culinary gurus here!

The problem: We're doing this on a budget and I have a handful of (very) novice cooks to help out. The shower will have approximately 50 - 60 guests. Thus far, the only thing we have been able to agree on is salad (no iceberg lettuce).

For dessert, I have a wonderfully experienced relative doing cupcakes for me.

So, Serious Eaters, what would you suggest for a main course and sides? I am open to any and all suggestions!
