Weekend Cook and Tell: Dinners in Under 10 Minutes

Welcome to another summery edition of the Weekend Cook and Tell. Every Wednesday we leaf through the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.

This week The New York Times revisited one of Mark Bittman's most popular columns, Summer Express: 101 Simple Meals Ready in 10 Minutes or Less. Whether it's a matter of getting in those late afternoon poolside hours or keeping your kitchen as cool as possible, summer is prime time for quick cooking meals.

As The Minimalist, Bittman came up with a ton of summer-ready dinners that can go from stovetop to table in a manner of minutes, making sure that we're eating well while still soaking up every last minute of gorgeous summer weather. Angel hair pasta tossed with fresh herbs and olive oil, and white wine steamed mussels are just a few of his under 10 minutes innovations.

For this week's challenge we want to hear all about the quick, summery meals that you've been whipping up all season. Easy salads, quick grilling proteins, and simple sandwiches all make for virtually effortless summer dinners. So get out that timer and climb aboard the Dinner Express for this week's summery challenge.

Show us photos of your dinner-in-a-jiff creations on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title) and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. We'll post a round-up of your best time saving recipes, ideas, and experiences next Wednesday.
