The Tassajara Bread Book
We had an odd rainy June weekend here and I figured it was long overdue to dust off my old Tassajara Bread Book and bake some bread. I forgot how much I love that basic recipe.
I was first introduced to the book while spending a summer in Alaska. When its rainy and cold for weeks on end and you are in the middle of nowhere spending the day baking bread is a great way to pass time. I had tried baking bread in the past, but the results were always dismal. This book changed that. Although it drives me a bit crazy that the measurements are a "little bit little of this, some of that" without no real exact weights etc. that's part of the charm of it. It puts you on the path to there's more to baking bread then weighing out every single ingredient to 4 decimal places. Even if you mess up you still end up with a tasty loaf. I think this book is a must have for anyone who spends a lot of time in the kitchen.
Anyone else a fan of this book?
