Serious Eats: Talk
I just saw a commercial on TV for 'Kinder Cereale Summer'. Here in Europe we have the Kinder series of sweets and snacks and Kinder Cereale is one of my favorites. Remember the kid's cereal 'Smacks'? Well those little pieces of puffed Farro (I think) are added to the sweet milk filling of a large, flat normal Kinder bar. Here in Italy it gets VERY hot in the summer so chocolate bar sales drop dramatically between May and September. So they got clever and said 'Well hey... What if we just put the chocolate bar in hard plastic packaging and glue a wooden spoon to the bottom of it so you could still eat it if it melted?' My jaw dropped to the floor and I couldn't believe my eyes. What a great idea!
Any clever food marketing ideas that just rolled your socks up and down?
