Where do we start making our food safer?

My friends and I are determined to make food healthier and better by starting at the roots. We are looking for suggestions, sources, and support to bring some rain to the food desert of Miami. After countless articles, documetries, and personal experiences on how our food is effecting us and our enviorment; we are determined to do something about it. Not just for ourselves, but for our communites and ultimately our world. Where do we start?
