The French Macaron?

I was curious about opinions others held about this rather famous delicate sweet. I have yet to have the pleasure of having my teeth break the delicate crisp shell of one, so I am also curious about how they taste what they're like? What is the cookie like in taste mainly as I have had enough of what is normally used as a filling lol. So what are your opinions on this treat?
