Welcome to Weekend Cook and Tell. Every Wednesday we browse the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
In honor of National Hamburger month we are devoting this week's Weekend Cook and Tell to all things burger-centric. But before you start forming those patties, there's a catch—instead of beef, this week we want you to to expand your burger horizons by making a veggie, turkey, chicken, or even fish burger. Of course burger purists like Ron Swanson won't be too thrilled with this week's challenge but what can you do?
For a little inspiration, check out these decidedly un-blah turkey burgers from the Chicago Sun-Times and The New York Times' round up of extraordinary veggie burgers. This week the challenge is simple—reinvented burger, protein of your choice, minus the cow.
Show us photos of your burger creations on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title), and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. We'll post a round-up of your untraditional burger recipes, ideas, and experiences next Wednesday.
