I'm looking at getting a candy/deep fry thermometer. I have a ThermoPen, but I want something that I can leave attached to the side of the container so that I don't have to hold the ThermoPen while I'm stirring. I just got the http://www.walmart.com/ip/Tramontina-6.5-Quart-Cast-Iron-Dutch-Oven-Red/11989387 and http://www.walmart.com/ip/Tramontina-10-Piece-18-10-Stainless-Steel-TriPly-Clad-Cookware-Set/11072505 based on the recommendations from Cooks Illustrated and here. :)
I was wondering what you all have used and what problems you may have found with what you have (display getting damp/unreadable, thermometer requires too much liquid, et cetera).
