I've had the broad side of a butterknife smacked on the back of my hand more times than I can count for eating with my hands and licking my fingers at the supper table. Now that I live in Italy, I almost never see it done outside of someone's house.

So what do you say? Finger-Licking... Yes or No? When is it warranted? Do grandmas have the right to bludgeon their grandchildren for licking their fingers at the supper table?
