Welcome to Weekend Cook and Tell. Every Wednesday page through the food sections of various national newspapers and peruse them in search of an inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
Artichokes, baby lettuces, and (gasp!) ramps! What does all of this mean? It marks the official beginning of spring, at least from a culinary standpoint. This week the San Francisco Chronicle is welcoming the mild weather with a who, what, when, where, and how of early spring produce covering everything from asparagus to green garlic and stinging nettles.
After a long root veggie-filled winter we're looking forward to the bounty of spring and have already made plans to hit up the farmers' market for as many spring veggies as we can carry.
For this week's challenge we want to hear about your early spring cooking adventures. We know you've been itching to test out those artichoke and ramp recipes all winter, and now is your time to show them off. Share your freshest salads, greenest garlic pestos, and the simplest preparations that let vegetables really shine.
Show us photos of your spring-centric creations on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title), and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. We'll post a round-up of your springiest recipes, ideas, and experiences next Wednesday.
