Coffee in the fridge?

A quick google search for coffee and refrigerator suggests that storing beans in the fridge is terrible and I'm a fool for even considering it.

But I imagine there's no harm in storing them well-sealed in the refrigerator, taking them out for a moment to get two scoops, and then returning them to the fridge. I can't find any satisfactory explanations for why that's a bad idea--some seem downright silly, actually. Does anyone here have ideas or experience?
