Welcome to Weekend Cook and Tell. Every Wednesday we leisurely browse the food sections of various national newspapers in search of an inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
This week in the food section of The Oregonian, Ivy Manning penned a love letter to her immersion blender. She's the first one to tell you that she's not one for kitchen gadgets but her handheld blender is one of her most prized kitchen possessions. With the help of the old boat motor everything from pancake batters to coulis and soups become a breeze, relegating her blender and food processor to the dark corners of the pantry.
This week we want to hear about all about your most prized gadgets. Are you the kind of cook who can't live without the slicing powers of a mandoline? Is the thought of making dinner sans garlic press a nightmare? Does your mortar and pestle act as your culinary crutch? We want to know all about your desert island gadget. This is your opportunity to tell us all about your most prized kitchen implement and the recipes that you use them for.
Show us photos of your prized gadget on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title), and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. We'll post a round-up of your recipes, ideas, and experiences next Wednesday.
