what shouldn't go into a brisket?
Full disclosure: I'm writing a book about brisket and in my copious research I found that people add what is basically the kitchen sink to their briskets: everything from de-caf coffee to Lipton Onion Soup to Franco-American Gravy to stout to Coca Cola to Diet Dr. Pepper to star anise to Ocean Spray cranberry slices to aquavit to Bubbe Jeanne's brisket sauce to gingersnaps. And of course, onions and carrots and potatoes. So I guess I have two questions: in your mind, is there a "traditional" brisket? And what, if anything, should never go into a brisket?
