Welcome to Weekend Cook and Tell. Every Wednesday we peruse the food sections of various national newspapers to come up with an idea for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
Thumbing through this week's food section in The Oregonian I came across Leslie Cole's great idea piece all about edible gifts for the holiday season that goes way beyond your bland tin of Christmas cookies. Cole shares ideas for easy to make and fun to give items like Homemade Vanilla Extract, Bollywood Coconut Curry Popcorn Seasoning, and Home-Churned Lemon-Herb Butter, gifts that I'm sure anyone of us would be thrilled to give or receive this time of year.
For this week's challenge we want to hear all about the edible gifts you'll be sharing with your loved ones this holiday season. If you're looking for inspiration make sure to check out Lucy Baker's Edible DIY for some great gifts including Holiday Granola and Cornmeal Biscotti with Cranberries and White Chocolate. And be sure to take a look at some of our favorites from last year's Homemade Holidays thread for even more ideas.
Show us photos of your the tasty gifts that you're giving on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title), and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. We'll post a round-up of your best giftable ideas, recipes, and experiences next Wednesday.
