Storing Cream Cheese
Just a quick, dumb, obvious tip.
We buy cream cheese every once in a while, but unless we're baking with it we end up with most of a loaf left over.
Closing up the foil packet tightly, putting it back in the box, and putting it in the butter compartment invariably results in some nasty dry moldy substance the next time we try to use it. So we tend not to buy too much cream cheese.
This time I tried out a brilliant new strategy -- after closing the foil packet, I wrapped the whole thing in a layer or two of plastic wrap before putting it back in the box.
And now, weeks later, it's fine!
Duh.
So just in case anyone else is as clueless as I was, here you go. :)
Happy New Year everyone.
