Which ones are the best?

I went to the store to buy new pans to use for my holiday baking. There are so many choices!!! Is there any one brand that is better? What size? What finish? I'm new at baking and I don't want to buy the wrong kind. Please advise! Thank you.
p.s. does everyone use parchment? I've never tried it.
