"OpenTable" Critique

There's an article linked at Metafilter bemoaning the plight of restaurants using a service called "OpenTable".

The linked article is ridiculously long winded, but basically says that the services' fees (they make online reservations) are too high, something like $10 per table.

I never heard of it before, but the only news to me is that restaurants have been stupid enough to be conned into relying on another company to take reservations for them, when a 20 line script on their web site (or even just a reservations@ e-mail address) would suffice. Facebook and Twitter aside, I didn't think it was still that easy to make billions (1.5 apparently) with a trivial service on the Internet.
