Christmas Past: Toaster Oven
My favorite Christmas gift last year was a sleek Cuisinart Toaster Oven. I promptly roasted a bunch of garlic in it and mashed it up with some potatoes for a great Christmas lunch. Since then, I have used it to toast over-sized breads, re-heat foods to their original crispiness in almost microwave speed, but haven't cooked anything from scratch there. It seems like all these appliances come with pictures on the box of two hens or chickens roasting away to crispy goodness inside that little boxy oven. But in my experience, the proximity of the heating elements precludes actual meat roasting to a degree you can get in a regular oven.
What have you made in your toaster oven, from scratch? Anywhichway, it looks good on my counter!
