What to do with a broken Cuisinart part?

I recently had to replace a hand blender part (the motor body to be more exact) and as happy as I was to have my blender back in business, my joy could last so long as the old broken part just sat there waiting for me to decide its future.
I googled for possible options (disposal of Cuisinart parts, recycling Cuisinart parts, etc) , but nothing came up.
I emailed the company and I am waiting for their reply.
In the meantime I thought maybe I could ask this question to the savvy serious eats readers that might know what to do.
I know I can just throw it in the trash, but my point (just to be clear) is that I don't want to do that since its just plain wrong.
In this era of environmental renaissance we cooks, kitchen gadget and food lovers can do our part by doing better.
Looking forward to some suggestions. Thank you in advance!
