American Chop Suey?
I'm from Maine and grew up in a paycheck-to-paycheck household. Oftentimes my mom would make us American Chop Suey, as it was very inexpensive to make. Essentially it is elbow macaroni, browned ground beef, diced peppers/onions, sometimes celery, cans of diced tomatoes and bit of tomato sauce. Throw in some dried Italian spices, salt and pepper and it's done in 20 minutes. It was a cheap satisfying dinner. I was talking with my boyfriend about it yesterday because I had a random hankering for it. He's from NY--Long Island and he said he's never heard of it. What about the rest of you?
