Wine to serve with smoked brisket???
For our annual July 4th BBQ I always smoke 3-4 whole packer cut briskets, we do a couple of pork shoulders, and all the usual BBQ trimmings. Most folks choose beer with this fare or, lemonade or soda. But I have a few die-hard wine drinkers, and each year I search for something that will stand up to smoked meat, and each year I have yet to come up with anything that seems to "go" with it.
I did make a red-wine sangria with Rioja and brandy a couple of years ago, and everyone seemed to enjoy that, but I'd rather have something that folks can just pour and drink since my day truly starts the night before tending the smoker.
