"I should have known better than to post such a kurt and laconic comment. My only excuse is that it was Friday, and I was getting ready to get out of town for the long weekend, and didn't take the time to elaborate.

"First off, I'd like to apologize to Ed. Ed, you know how much I love you and all you do, and all you've done here at SE over the last four years. We've even met in person, and I thought you were intelligent, funny, kind and an all around cool guy. It was never my intent to be mean spirited or judgmental. I can see how my terse comment might possibly be seen as such, but I'll ask you to read it again. I was simply stating a fact. A fact, however unpleasant it might be to hear, is not the same as being judgmental. Had I said, 'Ed hasn't lost any weight since February because he is lazy' or 'dishonest' or 'a bad person' or any other number of qualifiers, that indeed would have been judgmental. I didn't say that. Nor did I imply it, nor do I think that in any way. Again, if you felt that was my intent, I apologize for not having been more clear."
