Kitchen Design

I work in a residential setting, and one of our duties is preparing supper and lunch for the next day. We also decide what to cook and shop for groceries. There are two identical kitchens, and they are the best work spaces ever! They are basically a simple square design with a large pantry in the rear. There are low-tech appliances and cookware. But the design makes preparing food and cleanup so effortless that we are always cooking! I'd definitely duplicate the floorplan in my own home if the opportunity arises. How much does your kitchen influence your cooking? How important are high end appliances and cookware for you?
