Syrup Bread
I just recently heard of something called Syrup Bread. I've become intrigued with finding out more about this dish. I've found several recipes online and they vary widely. Many use sorghum or molasses and others use maple syrup and have icing. They all seem to derive from an old-fashion bread or cake recipe. Some people have mentioned that an older family member used to make it using syrup and cooking it in a skillet, although I don't know if they mean on the stovetop or in the oven (like cornbread.)
I was wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of this bread? Did anyone eat it as a child? Do you make it now? Which recipe is best- the ones using using molasses or syrup? What kind of pan do you cook it in? Most of all- is it tasty?
