Year after year, what are the mainstays of your "cooking" garden?
I've had some sort of a garden since I was a college student in the 70's. Everything from 1/3 acre to just a few plants on an apartment patio. I've ALWAYS had tomatoes and basil, if I didn't, my Sicilian grandmother would come back to haunt me.
But in my regular garden, the top 5 are: Tomatoes, green beans, basil, cilantro, and shallots. I grow plenty of other vegetables and herbs, but am not counting the asparagus, as that's a perennial, and not something a lot of people have room to grow.
What are your top picks??
