Weekend Cook and Tell: Pi Day Baking

Welcome to the Weekend Cook and Tell. Every Wednesday we sift through the food sections of various national newspapers to create a weekend cooking project. We hope you will cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.

This upcoming Sunday, March 14 is Pi Day, a day when mathematicians and bakers alike can celebrate with pi and pies, ratios, crusts and fillings. Serious Eats is hosting a Pi Day Bake-Off with the winning pie taking home a grand prize of $314. But we thought we'd give all of you a chance to share your Pi Day baking experiences and recipes for this week's Weekend Cook and Tell.

This week's challenge is an open-ended one, bake a pie, sweet or savory and tell us all about it. Here's a roundup of our favorites from Pie Day in January (another important day, less math geekery involved). The Sacramento Bee also has a great Cheater's Guide to Pie if you are in search of more inspiration and shortcuts.

Show us your photos on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title) and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. We'll post a round-up of your photos and recipes next Wednesday with a variety of your Pi Day pies.
