Have unfrosted chocolate cupcakes, Need inspiration. Please??!

I made two dozen plain, dark chocolate cupcakes for a party tomorrow night. I plan to frost them tomorrow (it's an oil-based cake recipe and stays moist).

My original thought was a plain old Swiss Meringue Chocolate Buttercream, from Martha that is reliably good, but since these are for a group of foodies, was trying to come up with something that's interesting and delicious. Two guests have peanut allergies, but eat other nuts. There will be other desserts.

Was considering scooping out the tops and filling with a coconut-pecan filling, or a chocolate ganache. Or something with Amarena cherries since I have two jars? My brain is frozen today. And am lazy, so I don't HAVE to fill them if the frosting is great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a bit of a post and run--I have to leave for work soon, and won't get to check back until tonight.
