Cast Iron Skillet Rescue

I bought a large Lodge cast-iron skillet a couple years ago, and it was probably my favorite kitchen item... But then I moved in with a roommate who was-- well, let's just say she was a little on the scatterbrained side. We shared our kitchen things, so I told her that if she used the skillet, to just wipe it out with paper towels or use water only. Being scattered as she was, my request meant that she didn't put it in the dishwasher or use detergent to clean it EVERY time.... just most of the time.

Anyway, I've since moved out, but now I have this rusty skillet that has totally lost all of it's well-primed surface. Do any of you know the best way to fix it, and return it to it's former glory?
