Popovers

Help help I need help...I have tried a different recipe every weekend and have yet to get one to actually pop. Does anyone have a fool proof recipe they would share? I have a muffin pan is it really crucial to have a pop over pan? Please advise.
I want to be able to fill them with whipping cream and I hate when they are dense and like a muffin.
