I bought a gallon of water and noticed that is says "Distilled-Safe for Appliances"

First of all, please don't hate me. My Brita broke last week and I have not had time to get a new one, so I am not an avid plastic water drinker.

Anyway, on to my question-do you drink distilled? Is it possible to buy un-distilled (hard?) water? Is there a difference in taste or quality?

I have never really thought about it, but I am curious to know your opinions/facts...
