why does organic milk have a longer shelf life than non-organic?

When I purchase Stonyfield Farms or Horizon brand organic milk, the expiration date is weeks later than other brands of non-organic (i.e. store brand) milk. Why is that? One would think the opposite should be true--less chemicals/less preservatives would mean a shorter shelf life.
