The Best Egg?

When I was young, we had chickens and got what I remember as the world's best-tasting eggs, freshly-laid. The chickens finally went bye-bye for some reason and we were then eating store-bought eggs, and that was about the time I quit eating them, except occasionally. Fast-forward 10 years and I was visiting a friend who had a farm and served us fresh eggs from her chickens and it brought back those wonderful memories of when I LIKED eggs. Since then, I have been on a quest to find good-tasting eggs, with not much luck. Maybe I have a false memory of how good they tasted or something, but all the ones I buy now or have when eating out are just kind of watery, blah, and not rich tasting. The yolks are pale, not the bright orange of the good ones.

What kind of eggs to you buy? Can you tell a difference in organic, cage-free eggs? Do you have your own hens? Unfortunately, in our area we can't have urban chickens, but that may be changing soon, as a group has started a petition.

Any egg ideas would be appreciated!
