A waaaay past date can of black winter truffle breakings. Help!
A good friend recently passed away, and while cleaning out his fridge, I found a 100 g can of French black winter truffle breakings, the use-by date is July 2003. Rougie brand. I was with him when he bought it, and it's been refrigerated unopened for the past 6+ years.
I brought it home with me and placed it in MY fridge, and am debating opening it. The only ingredients are truffles, water and salt.
I love truffles with my heart and soul. Any thoughts about if they may be spoiled? How would you tell? No bulges in the can, leakage or rust.
Don't know if I should just keep it as a memento, or indulge my curiosity.
What do you all think?
