Japanese Knives
The long and the short of it is that I am a high school student, and I am going to be in Japan over spring break with my Japanese class. I like to cook, and I would like to purchase a knife while in Japan. I have the opportunity to go to the Tsukiji Fish Market, and from what the internet tells me, knives are sold there, and seeing as it is mainly a wholesale market, I am thinking that this would be the best place to get a good knife at a good price (hopefully for less than or about $100). What I am asking you, serious eaters, is for your suggestions on a good type of knife to buy that will be able to handle most kitchen tasks. Or, failing that, a good idea of where to start to decide on what type of knife would be best for me.
