Ginger Syrup on Pancakes

Is it ok to drizzle ginger syrup on my pancakes? I made some preserved ginger the other day and ginger pieces are lapping in a lot of syrup (it's a simple syrup). It's occurred to me that I could possibly use this syrup on my waffles and pancakes. Does this border too much on trashy? Am I committing any food faux pas by doing this?
