Bread Maker?
I've read some of the other threads, but I have a few differences from what others are looking for...
Mainly, I don't intend to use it to cook the bread for the most part. It's mostly going to be used to make the dough. That's partly because most of the recipes I use call for oven cooking (challah [egg bread] which has to be braided, rolls, french twists, bread sticks, cinnamon rolls, pizza, cakes, etc). So how well the machine cooks is not that big of a deal to me as long as it does cook (I will cook with it, but rarely). I do like the idea of a jam maker. And quiet would be nice so if I'm doing homework it's not that disturbing, but I won't really be running this while sleeping.
Durability is a must, of course. I especially would like it if the pan didn't pop out in the middle of a cycle.
I am going to be on a tight budget, but I don't yet know exactly what that budget will be (haven't started my job, yet, and they haven't yet told me the pay... I'll find out when I move), so right now I just want to see the recommendations/what's available.
Oh and yes, I've made dough by hand before. It's a lot of fun. But I love having a bread machine to do it because it allows me to do other things (homework, work, chores, etc) while the dough is being made, which is nice.
