what's for dinner 11/4?

I desparately need to do some menu planning, so we've been winging it lately. Tonight we're doing spaghetti and turkey meatballs with homemade marinara sauce. I should make a wine run ...

How about you?

Chicken Marsala with cremini mushrooms and broad noodles.

Ina's Chicken Picante, leftover mashed butternut squash, and green beans almondine.

For dessert - picked through the remaining dregs of the Halloween candy - stuff like Milk Duds and the toffee things (the chocolate's long gone).

Making baked potatoes and topping them with chili, cheese, jalapenos, green onion and sour cream. Serving with corn on the cob and salad. No dessert : (

I'm a total control freak, so that being said...... I try to pick out 3 different meals before I go grocery shopping. I buy the ingredients, put a sticky on the fridge as to where the recipes are for the 3 meals and then wing it for the rest of the week.

Football, two hockey practices and faculty meeting led me to takeout pizza and greek salad. I picked up the pizza at a place near the football game and eh! it was not so good. Greek salad had giant slabs of feta which Child #1 adored so it was not a total wash.

ate a tomato, basil, fresh mozz., and artichoke heart panini at work (Italian cafe) around 4:30. just now had some dessert - a "test" slice of orange-glazed buckwheat sweet potato loaf cake. mmmm.

Philly's has this transit strike right now. As a result, train commuters are now driving and it took me 30 minutes to drive .3 miles. No, literally. That means my speed was half a mile an hour. So when I walked in the door, I popped open a bottle of wine without taking off my shoes.

Then we had grilled cheese with muenster cheese, red onions (cooked down in olive oil) with seasoned salt. AKA Comfort food.

Now, as we watch the Phillies-Yankees game (hint, we are getting spanked) we are eating boxed brownies. NO SHAME.

Italian style breaded and baked boneless pork sirloin chops, cheese ravioli with herbed light cream sauce, steamed green beans.

Soy-ginger chicken thighs and roasted beets and carrots, made before I made my long, arduous way to evening classes (thank you, Philadelphia transit strike) and back. I was glad I had something to come home to, since at school I'd heard about the train that caught on fire yesterday morning... which turned out to be my morning train. I was at home for the day due to a dentist appointment!

Pork chops in an apricot soy glaze, string beans, and leftover mashed potatoes and roasted squash.

Did Famous Dave's, our favorite rib joint -- great smoked/barbecue food for an amazing price. When we walked in, we forgot it was $1 pint night, so it was fairly busy. My iced tea was more expensive than the pint of Great Lakes Brewery Christmas Ale that my husband had.

For $23, we had a large smoked salmon with grilled flatbread appetizer, 1/2 roasted chicken, St. Louis ribs, beef brisket(the.absolute.best), corn muffins, jalapeno mac n cheese, and potato wedges. For dessert, we had 2 mini-orders of bread pudding with pralines and vanilla ice cream.

We boxed up half of the meal. My husband will probably nibble on it all day today.

Do I break the rules if I mention a restaurant meal? Last night was Korean BBQ at Honey Pig (Gooldaegee), in Annandale, VA. Absolutely delicious and totally satisfying!
