So I have volunteered to cook Thanksgiving dinner for my boyfriend's family, for a total of 10 people. This being my first T-day dinner cooked completely on my own (I'm only 19), my menu is fairly ambitious but because of my culinary background (my parents own a restaurant) I don't doubt that things will turn out just fine.
Even so, I am having trouble figuring out my plan of action for the day, as to what I should prepare first, how things will fit in the oven, etc.
So here is my challenge to you: For my menu below, what is the perfect timeline to ensure everything gets prepared well and on time? That is, in what order should I cook my menu?
-Perfect Roast Turkey (12-14lbs)
-Tossed Greens w/Apples, Pecans, and Cranberries
-Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes
-Chestnut and Apple Stuffing
-Tarragon Green Beans
-Candied Sweet Potatoes
Other useful notes: I'm not going to be able to make anything in advance. We will only have one oven. But the turkey will be pre-brined. I am not stuffing the turkey so the stuffing will need to go in separate. I'm willing to wake up as early as needed to start cooking, and I'd like to have dinner on the table by 5:00pm at the latest. And I'll have my boyfriend to help me cook! (Though this might be more of a hindrance more than anything...)
