Welcome to the Weekend Cook and Tell. Every Wednesday we sift through the food sections of various national newspapers to create a weekend cooking project. We hope you will cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
This week Amanda Gold of the San Francisco Chronicle did a great round up of home-baked bread books that have come out recently. These books run the gamut from quick and easy-200 Fast & Easy Artisan Breads by Judith Fertig to advanced-Peter Reinhart's Artisan Breads Every Day and even ground breaking-Jim Lahey's no-knead bread recipe from My Bread. Unsurprisingly, reading about all of these baking books left me with bread on the brain.
This week's Weekend Cook and Tell is all about bread baking. We want to hear all about your favorite bread recipes. Can you turn out a particularly perfect baguette or boule? Is your whole wheat loaf something to brag about? Are your dinner rolls the centerpiece of your dinner parties? If you are an inexperienced baker with an adventurous spirit wanting to try your hand at something new, this challenge is for you! Fall is the perfect time for warming up the kitchen with the smells of baking bread, so get out the flour and start feeding that yeast.
Show us your photos on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title) and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. We'll post a round-up of your photos and recipes next Wednesday.
